Our Students Represented the University at the International City&Traffic Workshop Again This Year

Four Civil Engineering students from the University of Győr participated in the international City&Traffic student workshop held in Belgrade from 5 to 11 July 2026. Working in international teams and communicating in English, our students tackled real-world urban and transport challenges and presented their proposed solutions together at the end of the week. Since 1996, the City&Traffic workshop has provided students from different European universities with the opportunity to work together in international teams on urban and transport planning tasks during an intensive one-week programme. A key feature of the programme is that participants examine real locations and real transport-related challenges, for which they jointly develop and present potential solutions. The University of Győr has been an active participant in the workshop since its inception and is the only higher education institution to have been represented at every edition of the event. Our University has also hosted the workshop on five occasions, making the nearly three-decade history of City&Traffic one of the long-standing international collaborations of the Civil Engineering programme in Győr. At this year’s programme in Belgrade, our Department was represented by Zorka Heider, Hanna Pusztai, Bence Szemes and Judit Völgyesi, students of the Civil Engineering BSc programme. Participants were divided into international teams, which developed their proposals throughout the week through site visits and collaborative analysis and design work. At the end of the workshop, each team presented its work and proposed designs in English.

Our students performed successfully both in the collaborative professional work and in the final presentations. In addition to providing valuable professional experience, the programme gave them the opportunity to develop their professional communication skills in English, gain experience in international teamwork, and become familiar with different approaches to planning and design. The students were accompanied to Belgrade by Dr. Dániel Miletics, a faculty member of our Department, who also contributed to the professional programme of the workshop. As the supervisor of one of the international student teams, he supported and guided the participants throughout their work. The programme in Belgrade continued a collaboration spanning several decades, through which our University’s students have the opportunity year after year to gain practical experience in an international environment while working together to develop integrated solutions to complex urban and transport challenges.
