City&Traffic Workshop

Our Students Represented Széchenyi István University at the International City&Traffic Workshop Once Again

Four civil engineering students from Széchenyi István University participated in the international City&Traffic student workshop held in Belgrade, Serbia, from 5 to 11 July 2026. Working in international teams, our students collaborated in English to develop solutions to real-world urban and transportation challenges. At the end of the week, the teams presented their proposals and results.

Since 1996, the City&Traffic workshop has provided students from various European universities with the opportunity to work together in international teams during an intensive one-week programme focusing on urban and transport planning. A key feature of the workshop is its practical approach: participants examine real locations and transportation challenges, develop possible solutions through teamwork, and present their proposals.

Széchenyi István University has been an active participant in the workshop since its establishment and is the only higher education institution to have been represented at every edition of the event. Our university has also hosted the workshop on five occasions, making City&Traffic a long-standing international collaboration closely connected to civil engineering education in Győr.

This year, our Department was represented in Belgrade by four BSc Civil Engineering students: Zorka Heider, Hanna Pusztai, Bence Szemes and Judit Völgyesi. The participants were assigned to internationally composed teams, where they developed their proposals through site visits, joint analyses and collaborative planning activities. At the end of the workshop, each team presented its work and proposed solutions in English.

Our students successfully contributed to both the collaborative professional activities and the final presentations. In addition to gaining valuable practical experience, the programme offered opportunities to improve their professional English communication skills, develop international teamwork abilities and explore different approaches to urban and transport planning.

The students were accompanied to Belgrade by Dr. Dániel Miletics, a lecturer at our Department, who also contributed to the academic programme of the workshop. As a supervisor of one of the international student teams, he provided professional guidance and supported the participants throughout their project work.

The Belgrade workshop marked another successful chapter in a collaboration spanning nearly three decades, enabling our students to gain valuable international experience and practical skills in addressing complex urban and transportation challenges through teamwork.
